Cause of her death was Broncho Pneumonia, uroemia, old age. General Notes: Ada was born at Seven Acres Tonbridge where there were a group of cottages. This was just off the Shipbourne Road nearly opposite to where Manor Road is situated today. The 1881 census shows her living with her family at 12 Fosse Road Tonbridge aged 13 and a scholar. The 1891 census shows her aged 26 a Domestic Servant and living with her parents at 13 Hawden Road Tonbridge. She was an attractive looking woman in her youth. After marrying Albert they lived at 7, White Mead Villas, Shipbourne Road, Tonbridge, Kent. Later about 1903 they moved to 3a, The Crescent, Tonbridge, Kent, where they spent the rest of their married life. Ada worked very hard all her life often working till after midnight. At one time she ran a laundry which was quite successfull employing several staff. At the same time she raised six children. Noted events in her life were: • Census, 1881, RG11, Piece 0918, Folio 41, Page 11. • Occupation: Co- owner of Laundry. • Baptism, 29 Mar 1868, Parish Church, Tonbridge, Kent. Ada married Albert Edward Woodhams on 7 Feb 1895 in Christ Church, Tonbridge, Kent. (Albert Edward Woodhams was born on 24 Jun 1866 in Dry Hill, Tonbridge, Kent, died on 9 Aug 1938 in Hospital, Pembury, Kent and was buried in Aug 1938 in Municipal Cemetery, Tonbridge, Kent.) |
